Welcome to our
Newsletter!
I hope to be able to update this newsletter often as
there are always new things to bring to your attention.
The office staff is in the process of trying to contact
patients who have either not responded to our mailings or have
forgotten to make appointments. If you are one of them, please
contact us soon. We do not wish to allow your oral health to be
neglected.
We are always happy to serve your friends. If you
know of someone who is in need of dental care and does not have
a dentist, please remember us! We thank you for your continued
support. Some of you have recently asked if I accept new
patients. I am always happy when one of my patients thinks
enough of my care to refer one of their friends. This is the
highest compliment a dentist can receive.
I was recently installed to the Board of Directors for the
Illinois Academy of General Dentistry. At the Illinois State
Dental Society Meeting in Oak Brook, I accepted the post of
Chairman of ISDS Member Services Committee. This Committee
functions to provide services to ISDS members such as products
and providers to make our practices better. All the products are
ADA approved and are the best we can find anywhere.
In mid September I attended a continuing education class
on ceramic restorations. These included veneers, all ceramic
crowns and ceramics fused to metal crowns. Also in this seminar
were the latest in composite restorations.
Dental News for my Patients
In late summer, the FDA has issued a warning about
toothpates made in China. Some of these toothpastes contain
Diethylene Glycol which can be poisonous. For those of you who
suffer from "Dry Mouth" the AGD has provided a website
[http://www.agd.org] giving resources for this problem. Just go
to the site and click on the dry mouth graphic.
Also a study in "Gastroenterology in early 2007 shows
that people infected with hepatitis C can be cured and the
treatment is 99% successful with pegylated interferon and
ribavarin. Those treated had no detectable viruses for 7 years
in this study. A recent study also shows that about 30,000
people develop oral cancer annually and approximately 8000 died
from the disease. That is why we look at more than your teeth
when you come for exams!!!!!!!!
All for now ....I will try to update this newsletter
often.
